Arien plains and road: The barren plains area and road through
it that stretches north of the Dantaron river, between the cities of Var
Bandor and Earendam. Midway between cities, the road intersects with
the Brintor road at the Brintor Crossroads. The road is known to
be travelled heavily by merchant caravans.

Aeraap: As a mortal, this aelin was the first air scholar
to achieve the rank of Hero. He has since taking a place among the
immortals, and his actions as an immortal are little known.

aelin: A humanoid specie with wings which allow flight, aelins
have a long heritage--following the great sundering, their race first rose
to prominence in the lands. Other species often consider them very
arrogant, and find them vulnerable to blunt weapons.

Aeolis: The Guardian of the Rose, Aeolis is the God of chivarly,
gallantry, and romance. His most dedicated followers bear the mark
of the rose-entwined silver sword, and find refuge in the Shrine of the
Rose.

Aerie of the Griffons: The home of the Uthlin griffons and
their human riders, on cliffs found on the eastern edges of the Uthlin
ocean.

Aerina: A Goddess present at the creation of the world, who
has since departed the heavens. She was a Goddess of the hunters
and huntresses, whose symbol was the wolf. Her followers were considered
a 'pack'.

Ajim-Chiaj: The militaristic order of the nefortu that dwell
above the underground sea, Rahh-Nefor.

alatharya: The first humanoid specie, who caused the sundering
as their great scholars and mages attempted to challenge the Gods themselves.
Cursed, they are presently without abilities for magic, but have become
reknown for their brutal strength and fighting skills.

Althajji: The greatest Yithoul templar of fire, who led the
Yithoul against a rival tribe, the Ilthina.

An-Nindon: An aelin priest of the God of Compassion, An-Nindon
resides in the Titan Castle.

Anirim: King of the Titans, Anirim the Pure has dwelt in the
Titan Castle, also called the White Castle, with his queen and the great
heros of ancient times, for more than 6000 years. Some still seek
him out to learn of his wisdom.

Aragol river: The branch of the Dantaron river which runs
south along the east side of Var Bandor.

Aramril, Tower of: The fortress of the Champions of Avendar,
located on the arien plains, which houses their vault and provides the
Champions refuge.

Arkhural: Also called "Bringer of Twilight", Arkhural is the
God of those who seek power by using fear as their primary weapon.
He leads the Raiders of Twilight, and his most dedicated followers are
established as the Sect of Shijardu.

Ashur: The great sleeping dragon of the void, little is known
about this God of Darkness, other than he was a moving force in the creation
of the world, and filled the void with beings wrought of his negative life,
primarily demonkind.

Askulithi: A high warlord of shuddeni forces, slain when Melandir
plunged the holy sword Shadrist through Askulithi's chest.

assassin: A traditional profession in Avendar, with a system
of guilds to train new members up in the arts of killing. Assassins
use poisons and a combination of stealth and direct force to slay their
victims.

Avendar: The canvass of the essence of the Gods--the
world created by the combined might of the Gods, in the beginnings of time.

bandit: Bandits, a subclass of rogues, are known for their
ability to use force rather than stealth in robbing--though they can be
stealthy as well. Bandits are considered the strong-arm of the rogue
professions.

barbarian: Barbarians, a sub-class of warriors, learn to use
their strength to increase damage they inflict in battle, and are known
for their ferocity and brutal strength in general.

bard: An entertainer who is skilled with musical instruments,
and uses song as a scholar uses magic.

Barlonde: A jester for the court of Anirim, whose most notable
legendary adventure was to steal an amulet from the sorcerer Ankhemes.

Battle of Oan: A titan war, now shrouded in the dust of ages
and mystery, the conclusion of which marks the point at which most titans
left Avendar for other realms.

Baron Krilin: The leader of Krilin fortress, Baron Krilin
supervises his peoples' battle against the maurading hill giants, and is
known to be a warrior of great skill himself.

Basalt Catacombs: A system of deep tunnels, filled with danger
for the unwary, that exist far below the city-cavern of Yithoul.
Primitive srryn and a fiery dragon are rumored to be among the inhabitants
of the catacombs.

Bayyal: Lord of Hatred and Destruction, Bayyal is a God of
chaos and evil. He takes the form of a nefortu, and is oft-worshiped
by those who delve in the sphere of fire. He brands his most dedicated
followers with the mark of the flame.

Bears: many kinds of bears roam the forests of Avendar.
To the north, brown bears are common, and cave bears have been spotted.
Hill giants are known to train bears for guards and hunting companions.
There is also a fabled race of intelligent bears, the Bears of Goran.

beldiss: a medium-sized plant with pale leaves found in the
temperate regions of Avendar. The leaves are greatly valued by water
scholars for their medicinal properties.

Belerin: A water scholar reknown for his wisdom and sense
of adventure, Belerin took a place among the Gods, for a time, but has
since departed.

Belliful Tavern: A beautiful tavern in Eril carved from a
trunk of an Oak

Birthing Feast, The: A feast day held on the first day of The Sundering,
nine months after The Day of Quickening. It is a common birthday for many,
as a result of Day of Quickening rites.

Brintor Mountains: The long range of mountains north of the
Arien plains.

Bromrin: the alatharya captain of the Var Bandor guard, and servant
of Iandir, Bromrin is a rare example of an alatharya in service of a God.

Burning, The: A month of high summer, and fourth month of the Avendarian
calendar, The Burning is so named as it was the month in
which the War of Fire began.

caladaran: the humanoid specie known for their great wisdom,
and tree-like appearance.

calendar: the standard Avendarian calendar consists of a 59-week
year, with each week having 7 days for a total of 417 days in the year.
There are 14 months which are between 15 and 36 days in length, being related
to the cycles of the dual moons. There are also 5 major feast days
or holidays.

catacombs: usually refers to the den of evil thieves and whore-chambers
found below Earendam.

ch'taren: the unusual humanoid specie which resides in part on another
plane, so their form is seen as translucent. Good-hearted beings,
they have a natural resistance to physical weapons, but find themselves
vulnerable to magic.

Chadrassa: the caladaran dweller of the grassplands and plains near
Earendam, Chadrassa is a mysterious figure, known to practice the elemental
magics.

chaja: a humanoid specie with grey skin and black hair, chaja
use their fanged teeth as well as their physical strength to serve their
shuddeni masters. Those not enslaved dwell in tunnels below the phase
spider's maze.

Chijisni: the shuddeni void scholar and high priest who oversaw
the building of the Yithoul temple.

Champions of Avendar: The group of the good-hearted annointed
by Jolinn to protect the innocent and defend against evil in Avendar.
Champions are easily recognized, as their titles are visible to all.
Their stronghold is the Tower of Aramril.

Conquest, Lords of: Self-appointed masters of combat, Lords
of Conquest (or conquerors) are chosen by Marlax because of their fighting
abilities. They feel that they rule the land in strength, and must
slay the weak and unfit. Their stronghold is in the forest of Nendor.

Converu: History's greatest templar, Converu aided the titans
in imprisoning the demon Sothmogga. He was a servant of the God of
Compassion, and is a direct ancestor of Demergon.

Converumir: a summer month, the fifth month of the Avendarian calendar. It is named after
the hero templar Converu.

Dantaron river: a great river which runs from a mountain lake
in the southwestern area of the land to curve around the city of Var Bandor
before turning eastward. It then runs all the way eastward to the
Uthlin ocean.

Dawning, The: The first month of the Avendarian year, The
Dawning is a spring month.

Day of Quickening, The: A feast day held between the months of The
Dawning and Nelennamir. Celebrations on this day involve basic fertility
rites which vary from culture to culture.

Day of Tears, The: The autumnal equinox. Legend holds that Kyana
wept for the future evils that would beset the world, and thus created the
stars, on this day.

Day of Year's End, The: a feast day held on the final day of the
Avendarian Year. Traditions vary in how it is celebrated, but most commonly
involve honoring travellers and wayfarers.

Death Knight: A mighty undead warrior bound in eternal service
to Gogoth the Lich King.

Demergon: the greatest living templar, Demergon resides in
the Titan Castle. He is a direct decendant of Converu.

Demons: the most evil creatures of the land, demons vary in
size and power. Powerful demons are kept prisoner of the titans,
and there are rumors of other demons below the Kohli city and on the cursed
plains. Void scholars, through their black magic, can summon demons
to do their bidding.

Dragons: ancient reptilian beasts, dragons are known as the
most dangerous of the natural inhabitants of the land. Their breath
itself is their greatest weapon, as they breath fire, lightning, or other
dangerous substances. The whereabouts of two dragons are known:
the emerald dragon resides in the forest of Nendor, and the amber dragon
slumbers near the mines of the Kohlis.

Dragons' Feast, The: the feast day held on midsummer's day, between
the months of The Burning and Converumir. So named due to the ancient legend
of three mighty dragons being outwitted by a pig-farmer.

Drakes: reptilian creatures akin to dragons, but much smaller
and without breath weapons. The most common drake of Avendar, the
granite drake, is found in the caverns of Rahh-Nefor.

druid: the profession which worships nature and derives mystical
powers from it.

Dyrck: the first ever to attain the rank of Hero, Dyrck is
a srryn bandit and chief member of the Raiders of Twilight. He is
known to be a worshipper of Sitheus, and a leader in Sitheus' mysterious
Saurain sept.

Earendam: seat of an ancient republic, Earendam is a decaying
city west of the Uthlin ocean.

Elanthemir: a winter month, and the 12th month of the Avendarian
calendar. It is named in memory of Elanthe, daughter of Kyana of the Stars.

elementals: creatures formed of a particular element by magic
of a corresponding sphere, elementals are common companions of scholars,
though wild elementals have also been seen in Avendar.

Enaerai: Daughter of Kelaith, Enaerai is a minor deity of balance.
Called "Lady of Harmony" by her followers, she is revered principally by
the knights whose order bears her name.

Endenday: "Iandir's day," Endenday is the fourth day in the Avendarian
week.

Enrien, Mt.: the towering mountain southeast of the forest
of Nendor, whose slopes contain the road to the Spirit Palace and the shrine
of Rystaia.

Eqiril: The ethron clan dwelling in the forest of Qilarn,
the Eqirils are led by the great clanchief Falirn.

Eril village: a small village of mixed races, predominantly
ethron, human, and caladaran, in the midwestern reaches of the forest of
Nendor.

Erinos: a God present at the time of the creation. He
is a god of wisdom and learning, and his followers bear the sigil
of the quill to represent their quest for knowledge.

Eruin: brother of Olonar and captain of the titans, Eruin
is the greatest titan warrior that remains in Avendar.

ethron: a small humanoid specie with green skin, ethrons are
known for their love of the forestlands.

Etzlawan: a strange nefortean seer who dwells high among the stalactites
of Rahh-Nefor.

Evensday: "Last day," Evensday is the seventh and final day of the
Avendarian week.

Falirn: the clanchief of the Eqiril clan of ethron, Falirn
resides in a palace formed of a great living oak.

fighter: a warrior sub-class, fighters train in tactics and
strategy, and the use of long-hafted weapons.

Fulian: a great king of the past, once served by the jester
Barlonde.

giant: one of several very large humanoid species.

hill giants are primitive humanoids of questionable intelligence.
They have a village in the Brintor mountains and are at war with human
settlements in the area.

stone giants are also primitive, but are much stronger and of a more solitary
nature than the hill giants. Stone giants are known to wander the
valleys in the heart of the Brintors

gladiator : a warrior profession which trains in the use of
gritty survival-type combat skills that might be used in a pit-fight or
arena battle.

gleeman: one of the entertainer professions, a gleeman is
less of a musician than the bard, but is presumably greater at tale-telling
and other forms of amusement.

Gogoth, city of: the decaying city of zombies that surrounds
the palace of Gogoth the Lich King. The city is found on a high plateau
west of the plains of Shargob.

Gogoth, palace of: the palace of Gogoth the Lich King, found
in his zombie-filled city, and guarded by legions of undead warriors and
servants.

Gogoth the Lich King: The most powerful undead creature in
Avendar, Gogoth rules the land west of the Shargob plains. He sits
on a throne in his palace, surrounded by his undead family, warriors and
servants.

Goran, bears of: a legendary race of highly intelligent bears
that once dwelt in the woods of Goran. Rgaa is the only surving bear
of Goran.

Goran, woods of: a fabled woods of unknown location that once
harbored a race of intelligent bears.

Griffon: a powerful creature that is half eagle, half lion,
the primary roosting ground of the griffons is the cliffs bordering the
Uthlin ocean. Griffons have been tamed and used as guards by titans,
and even used as mounts by humans.

Guardians of the Law: those appointed by Iandir to uphold
and enforce the laws that govern conduct in 'protected' cities of Avendar.
The Guardian stronghold is in Var Bandor.

Hearth Feast, The: a feast day held during winter months, a time
for families to gather around the hearth to celebrate their warmth of home and
companionship, and to make music. There are elaborate customs involving
selection of the hearth and burning certain items, prior to the feat day, for
good luck.

hill giant: Giant primitive humanoids of questionable intelligence,
hill giants have a village in the Brintor mountains and are at war with
human settlements in the Brintors.

House: a group of mortal adventurers who have banded together
under the patronage of a God, to accomplish a certain purpose or find strength
in numbers. The God of a House grants the members special powers,
which can be accessed when the House has stones of power in its fortress
vault.

human: a humanoid specie that is the most populous of the
land. They are considered very adaptable, able to learn and train
in anything.

Iandir : God of the Iron Crown, Iandir is the patron God of
the Guardians.

Ilthina: A shuddeni tribe destroyed long ago by the Yithoul.

Inelion Loebern: High priest of the Nendor order of druids,
Inelion gained his position by defeating the fire devil Ada'Chemta'Boghor,
also called the beast of the crimson sands.

Iolenday: "Jolinn's day," Iolen day is the sencond day in
the Avendarian week.

Joktan: The first mortal fighter to acheive the rank of Hero,
Joktan took a place among the immortals of Avendar for a time, but has
since departed.

Jolinn: The God of the Sapphire Spear, Jolinn is the patron
God of the Champions. His followers bear the sigil of the Sapphire
Spear.

Kachoja: The greatest kankoran warrior and general in history,
Kachoja led troops to great victories and often fought in the front lines
of battle with them. He now resides with Anirim in the Titan Castle.

kankoran: A humanoid specie that is furred and by all acounts,
rather wolf-like. Kankorans are known to dislike fire, and to have
the many of the same social structures as the wild wolfpack.

Kalilaqa: the matron of the Rahh-Nefor, Kalilaqa guards the young
nefortu of the colony.

Kelaith: The Hand of Balance, Kelaith was a God present at
the forming of the world, who has since departed. His followers were
branded with the sigil of the platinum scales, and attempted to maintain
balance in all things in the land.

Khajran: Ancient of the Pack, Hunter of the Stars--the immortal,
kankoran leader of the Lords of Conquest.

Khal: The strongest of the Lords of Conquest, the Khal is chosen
by battle prowess, through defeating the old Khal and all other challengers
to the title.

khil'ayum: A spiked, wicked race of creatures bent on destruction
and causing pain, khil'ayum are not native to Avendar, but were brought
here and imprisoned by the titans.

Kijjasku: the legendary shuddeni leader who formulated the
plan to remove the leader of his tribe and to found Yithoul.

kkhilgh: An insectoid specie that dwells underground, living
on fungus. They are difficult to slay due to their strong, chitinous
carapaces.

Kohli: A winged, furry specie that dwells underground and
tend to be evil, the Kohlis have a large city located near the foot of
Mt. Enrien.

Kor Thrandir: A city far to the north of Earendam, off of
Vorinden road. Kor Thrandir was established by humans at the site
of the ancient Shuddeni byway to the surface, and was established to home
those who sealed off and protect the byway.

Korthalos: A mortal air scholar Hero who became renknown for
his mastery of the spells of air and his keen wit, Korthalos became an
immortal for a time, then disappeared from Avendarian knowledge altogether.

Knights of Enaerai: The militant order which attempts to enforce
a balance in the land. The Knights are generally few in number, and
considered unusual zealots by most.

Krilin Fortress: A stronghold established by good-hearted
humans in the Brintor mountains, Krilin is goverend by the Baron of the
same name, and is in constant conflict with maurading hill giants.

Kyana: Goddess of the Stars, and grandmother to Nelenna the
titan queen.

Kyanamir The last full month of autumn in the Avendarian calendar.

Lilune: A Goddess of evil present at the creation of the world
who has since departed.

Lunus: The aelin name for one of Avendar's moons. In ancient
alatharya, Lunus is "Telianthis".

Lyceonis: The penultimate month of the Avendarian calendar, it is
the last winter month of the year. It is named in honor of Corvandil Lyceonis.

Lyceonis, Corvandil: The Earendam general to whom is attributed to
victory over the Kankoran hordes in the first Kankoran War.

Lyrenday: "The day of the Lyre", Lyrenday is the first date of Avendar's
week.

maglat: a creature that dwells on the plains of Shargob, maglats
burrow underground and pull their prey down into their holes like ant lions.

Melandir: The first Lord Protector of Kor Thrandir, wielder
of the holy sword Shadrist, and nemesis of the the shuddeni warlord Askulithi.

mold: a slimey, often carniverous growth that develops in
dark tunnels and caverns of the underground, several varieties of mold
have been identified: Russet, Verdah, and Suukha.

monastery: a small villa formed of men of a monastic order,
who serve an unknown diety of goodness. The monastery is located
in the northwestern reaches of the forest of Nendor.

Mornath: a lord of kohlis, Mornath lives in a stately manor
in the kohli city surrounded by his guards.

Marlax: god of Honor, Marlax is the patron god of the Lords
of Conquest. His followers bear the brand of the white falcon.

nefortu: a humanoid specie which has some resemblance to bats,
nefortu can fly and move silently, remaining undetected. Because
of their natural stealth, their specie produces many rogues.

Nelenna: the titan queen, Nelenna is wife of Anirim and granddaughter
of Kyana. Like her husband, she is considered among the wisest beings
in Avendar.

Nelennamir: A spring month named for the Titan queen, Nelennamir
is the second month of the year.

Nendor, forest of: the vast hardwood forest located south
of Var Bandor and bordered on the west by the Dantaron river, Nendor holds
many secrets. Rangers and druids make Nendor their home, as well
as other dark and dangerous creatures. The Eril village is found
in Nendor, as is the monastery and the passage to Mount Enrien and the
Kohlis. The eastern portion of the forest is thick with bandits.

Nimansday: "Nimiel's day," Nimansday is the fifth day in the Avendarian
week.

Nimiel: The ancient alatharya name for one of Avendar's moons.
Its aelin name is "Rhos".

Ogre: an evil, large humanoid specie. The water ogre is known
for ambushing travellers along the lakes in the foothills of the Brintor
mountains.

Olonar: brother of Eruin and past captain of the titans, Olonar
departed the land with many of the other titans after the last battle of
Oan.

Owl bear: a mutation of owl and bear, these dangerous creatures
are found in the northeastern reaches of the forest of Nendor.

Pelloro: Pelloro Nimblefingers, bard of light, is a legendary
bard who resides in the courts of Anirim. He is considered the greatest
recorder of Avendarian history.

Python: a python of immense size is said to dwell deep in
the Sythtys swamps.

Qilaunin: the only alatharya to retain his high intellect and the
ability to use magic, Qilaunin is an earth scholar who resides in the courts
of Anirim.

Qilarn forest: a forest located northwest of Var Bandor, and
bordered by an ocean to the west and the cursed plains of Shargob to the
south. An Ethron clan stronghold is found in the northern area of
the forest, and spiders and shura are found closer to the border of the
cursed plains.

Rahh-Nefor: a great underground sea over which a large colony
of nefortu has been established. Rahh-Nefor is located near the lake
which is the source of the Dantaron, and is also known to be the home of
the predatory granite drakes.

ranger: rangers are naturalists who use their nature skills
to defend the wilds and the creatures that they befriend. They are
also known for their mastery of the bow.

Rannock: As a mortal, Rannock was a mighty fighter and a Khal
of the Conquerors. He has since been taken up by the immortals, joining
their ranks.

The Reaping: The seventh month of the Avendarian calendar, it
is one of the four 15-day months, and is the first month of autumn. It
marks the start of the harvest season throughout the moderate climate regions
of Avendar.

Rgaa: the envoy of the Bears of Goran, Rgaa resides in the
Titan Castle.

Rhos: the aelin name for one of Avendar's moons. In ancient
alatharya, Rhos is named "Nimiel".

rogue: A profession that involves stealth, thieving, banditry,
or detecting such, rogue classes are: assassins, thieves, bandits, and
watchers.

Rystaia: The Light of the Heavens, Rystaia is a Goddess of
goodness. Her followers bear the sigil of the pegasus.

Rystaiamir: The last month of summer, Rystaiamir is one of the 15-day
half-months of dual-moon-based calendar.

scholar: A magician or wizard who has studied the methods
of harness the powers of a particular sphere. There are six classes
of scholars, corresponding to the six different spheres:

air scholars are known to often be chaotic and unruly in nature as are
their magics.

earth scholars use their magics for protection and strengthening.

fire scholars are feared for their ability to harness the burning and damaging
powers of fire.

spirit scholars are connected with goodness and have powers that detect
and harm evil.

void scholars use their black powers to harm, often calling upon familiars
and demons for aid.

water scholars use their magics for healing and protection.

School of Heroes: the hall of training where young adventurers
can gain their initial tutoring and combat experience. The hall of
heros culminates with a riddle-quest, which if solved grants one the sigil
of the School of Heroes.

Serachel: the dark god once associated with the aelins and
the causes of the light, Serachel fell from grace due to a desire for and
indulgence the worldly. His followers are most often unknown to those
around them, but a select few do openly wear the Sigil of the Shadow Mask.

Setting, The: an autumn month and the eigth month of the Avendarian
year.

Shargob, plains of: the plains west of the forest of Nendor,
cursed with evil and the home of dangerous creatures such as night terrors,
pale crabs, and maglats.

Shendaer, ruins and tower of: the decaying remains of an ancient
town, the inhabitants of ruins of Shendaer are afflicted with insanity,
and the tower is guarded by living statues.

shuddeni: a specie of eyeless, thin humanoids that dwell underground
and are evil as a rule.

Sitheus: the Saurian God, Sitheus governs the Raiders of Twilight.

Sothmogga: an ancient demon imprisoned by the titans with
the aid of Converu.

spider, phase: the dangerous arachnoid creature that dwells
in an ever-shifting maze. The spider has a strong venom, and the
ability to heal itself as it phases during combat, making it a dreaded
opponent.

spirit palace: the hall of learning and study for the greatest
spirit scholars of Avendar, the spirit palace is located among the clouds
of Mount Enrien.

srryn: a reptilian humanoid specie, srryn are resistant to fire
and are known for their cruel ways. The sythtys swamps are the homelands
of the srryn.

stones of power: the magical stones which grant powers to
the Houses, if they are stored in House vaults. Stones of power can
be tapped to grant temporary enhancements, but doing so destroys them.
They are rumored to have other, undiscovered powers.

Sundering, The: the ancient division by the Gods of magic into
separate spheres. Also the name of the 11th Avendarian month, when the great
division is supposed to have occured.

swordmaster: a warrior who has specialized in the use of the
sword, and has trained in specialized forms which have special purposes.

Sythtys: the swamps which are the ancestral homelands of the
srryn, located south of Earendam.

Telianthis: The ancient alatharya name for one of Avendar's moons.
In aelin, Telianthis is "Lunus".

templar: A profession which combines warrior skills with magic,
templars are often leaders in battle.

Thelansday: "Telianthis' day," Thelansday is the third day in the
Avendarian week.

Thethelsday: Perhaps named after the great Thethtil, Thethtelsday
is the sixth day in the Avendarian week.

the shadows. Thieves are most to be feared in civilized areas.

Thijardu resides in Var Bandor.

Thiyul: a legendary Yithoul fire scholar. According
to Yithoul legend, he used his powers to create the cavern that houses
the city of Yithoul.

titan: An ancient, very long-lived humanoid race, titans are
giant-sized and inclined to serve the Gods of goodness. Many of them departed
Avendar, though a few remained, cloistered in the titan hall. Located
far to the north of Earendam, the hall is the only known dwelling of titans,
and is also known as the White Castle.

Tyril: A great hero, he gained great fame for feats performed in
the War of Night.

Tyrilis: The third month of the year, it takes its name from
Tyril. This month marks the transition between summer and spring.

Tzayjal: Leader of the Ajim-Chiaj, the nefortu charged with the
defense of Rahh-Nefor and battles against the granite drakes.

Uil: a people shrouded in the dust of history, of whom little
is known. They were once preyed upon by the khil'ayum, according
to titan lore, before the imprisonment of the khil'ayum.

Uthlin ocean: a vast ocean to the east of Earendam, the Uthlin
ocean is frigid and ice-bound along its northern reaches. To the
east, cliffs which shelter the aerie of the griffons are found.

Valectis: The month marking the transition from autumn to winter. It is
named in honor of a past leader of Earendam.

Var Bandor: the largest city of Avendar, and the present center
and gathering point for adventurers of all races and classes.

Vorinden road: A road branching eastward from the Earendam
road, which leads to Kor Thrandir.

War of Fire: The first major war in recorded human history, the
War of Fire started as a compact between evil humans and srryn. Their conquest
of Avendar was only stopped when Jolinn gave righteous humans the gift to
control magic of the water sphere.

War of Night:The second major war in recorded human history. It started
with dark packs between evil humans and their shuddeni tutors. They were
prevented from dominating all Avendar only by their accidental summoning of
the ch'taren, who vanquished with their spirit magic the evil hordes.

warrior: a profession that uses weapons and meelee combat.
Fighters, gladiators, barbarians, and swordmasters are all considered specialized
warriors.

watcher: a profession which trains its members in tracking
and hunting other adventurers.

White Castle: another name for the Hall of the Titans, where
Anirim abides with a gathering of legendary heros of the past.

Xiginath, Shrine of: a demon-filled maze of blackest evil,
the whereabouts and details of the Shrine remain unknown to most adventurers
in Avendar.

Xthijch: A mighty demon imprisoned by the Titans. It
has met defeat, other than its imprisonment by the Titans, only once in
mortal memory.

Yaril: a fearsome tentacled beast, Yaril are known to be trained
by the Shuddeni to guard and patrol for them.

Year's End: the last month of the Avendarian year. It is
also the first spring month.

Yithoul: A powerful tribe of the shuddeni. The
Yithoul erected a city and dark temple in a vast underground cavern below
the maze of the phase spider.

Yithmakra: the assasin who aided Kijjasku in deposing a tribe
leader prior to the formation of the Yithoul tribe.
