Step 5 Advanced: Be a Hero
While I'm not saying that you have to be a Hero to follow a religion, it sure doesn't hurt. Being a Hero shows that you have, at least a little, commitment to your character. I've seen too many promising character ideas fall apart when faced with the task of leveling and being PKed. The time you spend on your way to becoming a Hero also allows us to watch what kind of you character you are, even during the monotony of leveling; which is one of those reasons I don't slap a sigil on a guy who just came out of the School of Heroes. So while you don't *have* to be a Hero, it sure helps. This also means that people should not whine about not having a sigil at level 30, learn to live with it.
Step 6: Roll with the punches and don't give up.
Now that you've spent so much time on your character, it's insane to give it up at the first sign of trouble or something gone wrong. I've actually reconsidered applicants who have shown to me that they've actually improved or changed whatever was the initial problem. In fact those people I view a lot more favorably then the guys who delete right away, thus breaking Step 1. And remember, giving up is for wussies, and you aren't a wussy are you? Nah, I didn't think so.
