The 6-step plan to Stardom, a Guide to Following a God from Creation to Playing, Page 2
  by Dolgrael
Step 3: Make your character original.

"Yarr, I'm Sir , the greatest warrior-king in the sandbox and ruler of the seven puddles of rainwater; and oh yeah, I like to PK people."

Following your God's standards is considered the bare minimum. Next you need to make your character stand out from the rest of the wannabes. I can't emphasize how important it is to be a full-fleshed character. Develop a style that is unique to you. Even if that style is being the quiet silent type, at least you have something that makes you different. I'll never forget one of my followers because of the stylish way he played his character, but I can assure you that I've already forgotten the masses of characters I've rejected because of their one-sided, cookie-cutter, image. Further information about creating unique characters can be gotten from Rystaia's guide to character creation.

In short, if you can't make yourself interesting, then how can you hope to interest a God or Goddess? Just remember even I'd rather have that 98-hp weakling who can RP great than the homicidal PK guy who can't even spell his own name right; and I'm the freaking God of War.

Step 3 Advanced: Put a little elbow grease into that background

I know that I go over the backgrounds of my followers with a fine-tooth comb. It always shames me if I have a wannabe follower who can't even spend the time to give me, and himself, a decent and interesting background. Once again, if you need help with those things, go read Rystaia's guide to character creation. It's better written than mine, and god knows I shouldn't have to try to repeat it here.

Step 4: Act like you're being watched all the time, because you just might be.

Not only is it bad RP to only act in-character when you know you're being watched, it's also just plain ignorant. I've watched some people who seem to take the slacker attitude to their character whenever they feel like they aren't being watched. Guess what? They were wrong. Some notable times I even catch them saying/doing the most idiotic things, like oocing "Oh I don't really feel like [RPing] right now." Do you know what my response to that was? *crickets chirp in the background again* Riiight, neither me nor the crickets were very impressed.

Step 5: Don't spam pray, and don't write me more than two notes.

I know it's so hard not to pray for an interview every hour on the hour, but trust me, you aren't helping anything by doing that. Last I checked, I wasn't afflicted by Alzheimer's, which means that, surprisingly, I can remember people for more than an hour. It's okay to write me a note or a pray declaring your intentions at an early time, but don't expect me to swoosh down there to instantly grant you your every wish and whim. Instead I'm going to watch you, and seeing your prayers every hour only makes me want to hurt you. I'd also advise another note when you Hero, because by then I might have started taking you seriously. People that do constantly pester me are in reality forcing me to beat them like they were an ugly stepchild.

And since you now should be limiting your amount of prays and notes, you should take the time to make these notes and prays unique and interesting. Everyone gets those prays that pretty much says "Lord , I want to follow you! Please let me in!" Take this opportunity to once again differentiate yourself from the nameless masses, and market yourself as someone special. Every god probably wants to share those well written note that makes other Immortals green with envy that you are following him, and not them.
