The 6-step plan to Stardom, a Guide to Following a God from Creation to Playing
  by Dolgrael
This a basic guide for people interested in creating a character that belongs to one of the many Avendar religions. I should stress that this is only a basic guide, and while following it will not guarantee you your sigil, it will probably help. I should also note that this guide was written from a list of my own thoughts, and may not necessarily be shared by all the other Immortals. Finally, before deciding upon a potential religion, you should be careful to make sure that God or Goddess is active. While you can still follow an Immortal that is not active through your RP, you should not expect to receive his or her sigil.

Step 1: Commit yourself to this character

Trust me, I have no wish to invest time and sigil a character that doesn't even have the full commitment of his own player. If *YOU* don't find the character interesting enough to play all the time, then while the hell would I think any differently? Thus if you have alternate characters, you might as well shoot yourself in the foot now, and spare me the trouble.

Step 1 Advanced: Build a good reputation

This might come as a surprise to some, but IMMs actually do watch people. And guess what, we also share this information amongst ourselves. If you're one of those characters that have a sigil, who then quits or deletes soon after, then you should know this following tidbit: I see that as a black mark against you. Sure all character can *SAY* they're dedicated a hundred percent, but if you've got a record of being a quitter, then why should I believe you? Once again, if even you can't commit yourself to a character, than you can be assured I won't bother to.

Step 2: Read the help-file of the God or Goddess you wish to follow. In other words: Do your homework.

Nothing ticks me off than a would-be follower who doesn't even have the clue to know what my religion is about. I've had people who seemed to just decide to follow me on the spur of the moment. I can usually tell about these sorts of things, especially when characters can't find their way to my temple when I summon them for an interview. I view these people as annoyingly foul odor: you're annoying me now, but if I ignore you I'm fairly sure the next small wind will blow you away from me and to your next passing fancy.

Another similar problem is those people who decide to try to "fit" my religion into their character.

"Hello my name is XXX, and since I've got nothing going for my character right now, I thought I might give your religion a try. I never really followed honor in my lifetime, I'm actually a shoe-merchant, but I think I should be branded with your sigil nonetheless."

Do you know the proper response to these people? *crickets chirp in the background* Riiight, I'd ignore these people as well. Or in some cases, I mock them for their foolishness, and *then* ignore them.

Thus the proper thing to do is to gleam the appropriate information from a helpfile, and then make sure that if your character wishes to follow that religion, he or she should conform to the ideals and information stated within.
